The best way to get rid of Tonsil stones is with a water pic . It blasts them right out of there and it gets the ones that you cant even see . It works everytime .
I have been suffering from tonsil stone for 3yrs now, I heard about Dr Katz remedy, but they dont sell them here in the UK and I really want to try it, any helpful advice?
lace commented on 13 May 2008, 00:48:55 I dont use any tools I tense up that area by flexing my neck and pop! out come the stink nuggets. I've also learned that if you can see one hanging out. that means you have a whole mess lodge in that cavity. give it a good strain, you may get a little light headed but you'll get them all out
guest commented on 22 May 2008, 18:23:17 My tonsil stones smell like shit too. So I just put them where shit belongs, back in my anus
Ted commented on 23 May 2008, 05:57:05 SMOKING IS A DEFINATE CONTRIBUTE TO TONSIL STONES. CIGARS, CIGARETTES, OR EVEN JUST BEING AROUND HEAVY SMOKERS. I AM A CIGAR SMOKER AND SINCE I QUIT, I HAVENT HAD ANYMORE! BOTTOM LINE NO SMOKING!
ad commented on 25 May 2008, 01:02:02 ok everybody has got them ...but is there a method of stopping them from growing again n again without actually removing ones tonsils ? please help .
guest commented on 28 May 2008, 20:56:16 It smells that way because its built up food and bacteria.
guest commented on 29 May 2008, 17:14:02 I have found that taking parsley tablets has stopped mine. These capsules are available cheaply from health food stores. I also agree with cutting down on diary and drinking water.
thx. commented on 02 Jun 2008, 22:10:21 Bobby pin works like a charm...It makes me feel so much better to see others with the same problem. I do suffer from allergies & take weekly shots. Non-smoker & Non-drinker. Wondering about the soy comment b/c I read not to drink/eat much dairy, & switched to soy products, but now I am wondering if that was a bad choice.
guest commented on 03 Jun 2008, 11:35:23 I have get these damn tonsil stones 24/7. I had tonsilitis as a kid pretty often. Haven't had it recently, but I feel like I'm living my life around picking these things out of my tonsils. It's disgusting, time consuming, and half the time, I don't get them because the crevices in my tonsils are so incredible deep. Does anyone know if an ENT Dr. would remove tonsils strictly for this reason? It's driving me crazy although it's not physically harming me.
guest commented on 04 Jun 2008, 02:25:27 hey i have these stupid tonsil stones. am considering going to doctors to try get onto the waiting list to get my tonsils out. is there anyway of getting rid of these before it gets worse? Why is it that when i pick one out it almost immediately reappears? This sux, im 18 and i really dont want to get smelly breath from this. please help!!
Alex, Sydney, Aust commented on 05 Jun 2008, 06:05:56 I'm 18 and have had tonsilloliths for about two years now. Wikipedia tells me that some people use fancy tools to get them out or to rinse them out with brine, but i found that the best way to get rid of them is to just sort of manipulate your throat muscles. I sort of "open" my throat like i do when im breathing through my mouth, then seal my lips and suck REALLY hard. If i keep this up for about 20 seconds, the tonsillolith comes closer to the throat. then i just wiggle my tongue and it comes right out, though its always broken because i crushed it while it was in my throat. I generally notice they are there by detecting it in my breath before i can feel it.
(X-F)Inuyasha commented on 09 Jun 2008, 04:36:25 Yeah, I am 14 and mine r deep in my throat. i used to use Q tips. i take the cotton swab off and use the end of it. it work for awhile but they gotton bigger and deeper!
guest commented on 10 Jun 2008, 18:01:50 Thank everyone !!!!! Didn't know what I had never heard of tonsil stones thought I had peanuts stuck in my throat because they would usually dislodge in 3 days. Last one cause sore throat and problem swallowing had it for 7 days first one I could see on left side in back of my tonsil. Went to ENT he said it is tonsil stones and he remove it with long pliers . Was told brush aft eating and gargle and rinse mouth with peroxide. If more comes back I can remove them with long q tip. Hope I don't need to.
guest commented on 12 Jun 2008, 04:14:51 My allergy doctor told me that most people have them and never know it. They are usually small and few, and pop out on there own without ever being noticed. But when people have allergies or alot of sinus infections, they get alot more and they are usually larger, which makes us notice them. The best solution has already been mentioned here: to simply pick them out and gargle to reduce the bacteria and smell. I have repeated sinus infections and during those episodes I can pick out 4-5 a day. Usually the first one is about the size of a pea and therefore blocks the exit of the smaller ones behind. I wouldn't use anything sharp to pop them out because if you do poke yourself, the wound could become infected because of all the bacteria there already. I also wouldn't use anything small like a toothpick for fear of swallowing it. I prefer to use the smallest crochet hook I have (one used for tatting, which has a hook so small you can barely see it). It has a blunt end, is long enough to make it easier to see the area when using it, and thin enough to slide on the side of the stone to pop it out. It could be that some people get more when they smoke pot or cigarettes because those are irritants which will cause your sinuses to drain more. I don't think drinking alcohol has anything to do with it, but if you've been drinking in a bar, you are usually around alot more smoke than normal.
guest commented on 14 Jun 2008, 13:58:10 You guys are such whimps. They're just little pieces of bacteria, food, and white blood cells. I mean, it really seems kind of excessive to say things like "I have been suffering from...".
guest commented on 23 Jun 2008, 12:55:53 I self diagnosed myself as of today! I'm 23 and first developed these stones in high school. The doc had no idea. I coughed it out and never thought about it again. I'm getting them again, which worried me, but a quick jump on the internet found my a diagnosis. I'm glad it's a simple explanation and they're harmless (just gross).
guest commented on 23 Jun 2008, 13:54:48 I think they might have something to do with cheese. After eating pizza or something cheesy they tend to pop up.
Jenn commented on 24 Jun 2008, 12:24:10 I've just starting getting these "balls" in my mouth about a year ago (im 30 & dont smoke). I had no idea what it was, I looked up my symptoms today and found out its tonsil stones! Went to the mirror, looked down my throat and saw it for the first time! YUCK!!! I tried a Qtip, it helped but it made me gag. Im glad Im not alone, now im wanting my tonsils out! (Now i know what was causing my bad breath!)

guest commented on 30 Jun 2008, 06:59:13 I've had these things also for years, since I was a kid. but I've had a sore throat for over a week and went to the dr. last week to have him look because I thought I had strep or tonsillitis from seeing a white thing on my right tonsil. he told me what it was and that it was nothing serious and picked it out with a q-tip. My tonsil is still sore (only hurts on my right side where they formed) and I noticed the next day after my appt, that I got another one! I messed with it with a qtip which didn't work so I stuck my finger back there and then it finally came out. But my throat STILL hurts so I'm pretty sure there's more in there. I had noticed that my throat would hurt like this in the past and then would quit and I would spit these things up but never made the connection. I usually have these when I have allergies. I hate these they are grotesque and smell terrible. They are obviously getting worse for me since they have just started giving me such bad throat pain. My kids get them also.
guest commented on 02 Jul 2008, 06:16:33 I know i have 1 because i can feel it & smell it but just can't see it. I've tried gargling with salt water several times but nothing. 1 came away a couple of days a go when i laughed but it's really bugging me. Any suggestions?
guest commented on 13 Jul 2008, 01:50:55 I used a stretched out bobby pin
guest commented on 15 Jul 2008, 01:43:31 For some time now I have frequently been feeling like I have food stuck at the back of my throat but not been able to see anything, it's really annoying then after a few days of this I feel something dislodge and find these smelly whitish yellowish lumps in my mouth. It's really embarassing because it's been causing me to have really bad breath, I thought I was the only one. I'm going to try some of these remedies, thanks!
guest commented on 20 Jul 2008, 19:00:31 Has anyone purchased the book Tonsil Stones Secret Home Remedies? is it worth the $$? Does it work?
guest commented on 09 Aug 2008, 05:01:27 dudes.. why not try a physical exercise to remove the tonsil stones,. it doesnt cause you even a single penny,. or using any tools, just twist your neck at the left and pull out those stones if you think they are in, it is just like pulling out a plegm, but make it harder enough.. then repeat it for your right tonsil, by twisting again your neck at the right side.. after having them out,. just gurggle with mouthwash... try it.. it is just a 3minutes oral exercise :)
guest commented on 11 Aug 2008, 22:09:17 gargle with salt water morning and night before or after you brush your teeth can prevent bacteria from building up.
it may not necessary remove it completely (although for some people it does) but it can help the tonsils not swell up and evolve into a bigger hole.
if you gargle with at least two cups of salt water it can loosen up the stones, if you push around the hole with an object, the stones would just pop out.
if no methods have been working for you, i suggest you go see the doctor about having your tonsils removed. once it is removed you'll never see those stones again.
guest commented on 13 Aug 2008, 08:21:58 Ive bn suffering from these for about 2 years now.....after moaning to my doctor a few times she finally referred me 2 c a specialist 2day.....she told me that chewing gum as much as possible realy helps as it makes the muscles in your throat move which helps dislodge them, she also sed 2 gargle salt water in the morning, dinnertime and b4 bed vigorously as salt is a natural antibiotic....she strongly advised me not to put anything neer my tonsils 2 remove them as it will just make the infection worse!! Also the product THERAFRESH which has lots of ranges lke toothpastes mouthwashs etc is realy gd for taking them away!!! hope this helps xx
guest commented on 19 Aug 2008, 03:07:17 I have had this problem for years and i'm likewise i'm glad i'm not the only person! this may sound sick but i enjoy smelling them!! sick, huh?? also i have cut down on carbs and rice and i rarely get them now - can anyone else give it a try and let me know?
guest3 commented on 19 Aug 2008, 16:40:55 Thanks, when i first saw them, i thought i had cancer or something and was too afraid to tell anyone about it... now i know
guest commented on 21 Aug 2008, 06:21:44 I too have been getting these tonsil stones for a few years now. My method involves using my tongue to pick them out. It's taken me a while to get it back there. Kind of like stretching your muscles, eventually you're flexible enough. It is by far the best method and it doesn't make me gag.
guest commented on 25 Aug 2008, 15:58:53 I took my liitle boy to the doctors and explained about his bad breath and bad stomach and these horrible smelly white lumps on his throat and she looked at me as though I was mental. She then went on to print off three pages about oral hygiene from the internet. I was very annoyed at her and was very concerned about my little boy. These things are making him feel sick. I am so glad I found this site which as given me an explanation for these lumps and maybe now we can do something about them.
Willie commented on 26 Aug 2008, 15:30:05 Thank you for the advice! the bobby-pin idea worked great as long as you go from the bottom up if not your going to swallow the "smelly ball" also i found it that i only gag if i touch above the tonsil stone. im also glad to find out that im not the only one with tonsil stones
guest commented on 30 Aug 2008, 09:15:17 I have had these for about a year now. My girlfriend had them before me i wind her up all the time saying that she gave them to me. I cant help but give them a smell before and after i squeeze them.
guest commented on 02 Sep 2008, 21:01:01 Mine are not visible they are farther down my throat. I can suck them out . They drive me crazy but they say for an adult to have tonsils out is a major ordeal.
guest commented on 06 Sep 2008, 12:11:56 eat and drink less dairy products. drink soy milk instead of cow milk. dairy products causes allergies and sinusitis.
buy a SINU-CLEANSE NETI POT. the little pot comes with a saline solution that drains your sinus. it really works.
guest commented on 07 Sep 2008, 22:29:09 Ok well I'm no expert but one thing that worked for me was putting a whole bunch of hydrogen peroxide in my listerine a little less than half maybe one whole bottle in a 1.5 liter bottle of listerine, this makes it easy cause I don't have to taste the hydrogen peroxide and I gargle every morning and every night for about 60 seconds...It takes away the nasty flavor and it's helped them to slowly stop coming also one important thing that people usually think is not necessary is SCRAPING YOUR TONGUE this really helps take off all the white stuff at the back, this is part of what produces it..
Ritzy commented on 10 Sep 2008, 18:07:04 I get these tonsil stones every so often. The sometimes fall out when I sneeze. They have a nice creamy texture when rubbed between your fingers. I've been using them as a spread on Ritz crackers. They are actually very tasty!
guest commented on 13 Sep 2008, 08:46:50 I think they are caused by mucus also. i never had them until my sinuses were so bad I had to have surgery and then I started getting them. I usually get them before, during or after I have a cold or my sinuses drain into my throat. ANyone else?
melissa commented on 14 Sep 2008, 14:06:03 Let me just tell everyone that the therabreath stuff did not work. It made my breath better for a couple of days then went back to normal, I used the gum the oxygen tablets. I wasn't going to buy everything else without trying something out im glad I didn't the stuff was expensive also. I really hope one day we could find a cure for this. I hate these things.
Lisa commented on 16 Sep 2008, 20:27:52 I hate these things....I've noticed them for a few months now....Now I know why I've had bad breath !!!! A knitting needle works for me....

guest commented on 28 Sep 2008, 16:35:12 I have them too, I feel bad for all of us. I have heard that most ENT will not remove your tonsil's just for this reason.
Can anyone tell me where exactly to put the water pik. I can't see the stone
guest commented on 30 Sep 2008, 22:38:21 I use a Q-tip to pop them out. I spit them out as fast as possible (I don't want to see them, much less smell the nasty things). I found that some of my tonsil pockets are bigger than others. I hope I don't have to pop/gargle these stupid things the rest of my life. I find that it's happening more and more frequently as the years pass. I was in my early 20's when I first discovered them. Now I am 26 and having to pop them out a few times a month instead of once or twice year. Ew... Glad I'm not the only one with this issue.
Kristen commented on 04 Oct 2008, 04:59:59 I have been having this problem for about a year. I thought it was realted to GERD. But after reading all these comments I can see what I really have. Does it make anyone cough and cough especially when you lay down at night??? I have started gargeling with organic apple cider vinegar. Sounds like it may take a while for this to work, but I'm willing to try. I have tried getting them out with my finger, my tooth brush and a tooth pick. Sometimes it works but not always. They are still in there.
zobo commented on 10 Oct 2008, 05:04:51 Hi there!! glad I discovered this forum have had the the nasty little things for a couple of years. My question is that I am having a nasty time with one side its really sore as i get tonsil stones behind my tonsil which makes it alot harder to remove anyone have any ideas on how i can clean it up as its really sore now??!!
guest commented on 21 Oct 2008, 12:58:10 Thank goodness I am not alone - discovered i had these little critters about a year ago - was coughing them up then one day i felt some thing in the back of the throat and had a look to saw two large white lumps, thought it was Strep throat only to investigate further - picked and prodded until one popped out - what a stink. The bad breath issue makes me really paranoid and have tried all different mouth washes to no avail will definetly try the cider vinegar solution to see if it helps! Thanks for all the tips, I use a bobby pin but dont think it is the safest option.
guest commented on 27 Oct 2008, 11:39:27 The straw worked! Thought I would never get that one out! Gargling with diluted cider vinegar is apparently a good way of preventing them. Also, I cut out dairy products for a few weeks and they disappeared olny to come back when I start eating dairy produce again...might be connected?
I have suffered from these nasty critters [tonsil stones] for years. I just accepted that I would always have them. However, since using the tonsil stone remedy I learned about on tonsilstones.net, I have not experienced even one tonsil stone. - Mike, Missouri USA
