I first noticed I had tonsil stones about 15 years ago. They come in varying shapes and sizes, with the yellow ones (they've been in there longer) smelling slightly worse then the white ones. Lol what IS a Q-Tip, I keep reading about people saying they poked them out with Q-Tips and getting completely confused :P

I first first forceably popped out a tonsil stone as a juvenile (now 35). Not knowing what the heck it was I soon discovered it had a more than HORRIBLE odor as I curiously examined it. YUCK!!! As I would see these once in a while, it was'nt when i was sick. I assumed it was a germ that my tonsils had caught and wrapped up in a wax-like pus. The smell? Maybe a defense so that we DONT want to swallow it considering what it may contain. That's my theory anyway. I guess I'm lucky since I've not seen one of those lil stink monsters in 6 years. Good luck to those being haunted by them!

I'm SO GLAD to know that those yucky things that come out of the tonsils are called Tonsil Stones! I always called them "tonsil bugers". Im moreso happy to know that me and my siblings are not the only people to have experienced them.
Thank you all for sharing your "tonsil buger" A.K.A Tonsil Stone stories!!! I thought we were a strange breed or something ;)~

I'm only 15 and I have been suffering with tonsil stones for a few years now.I don't get bad breathe from them so I suppose I'm kind of lucky,but they are so irritating! They never come out and if they do I swallow them.I've got one at the minuite that I've had for a week,its got really annoying because I can feel it on the back of my throat and I've got a sore throat and a cough at the minuite.I've poked them several times to the point were I'm being sick,and it still hasn't gone,I've now got very sore tonsils and I can't breathe as strongly as I could because my throat feels tight!can anybody help me how to get rid of it please?or should I just get my tonsils removed/

You can prevent these tonsil stones with good oral hygiene. Most people consider this just brushing your teeth, using mouthwash, and flossing. However, the most important part here is left out, your tongue! Don't just brush your tongue, all that does is re-arrange the bacteria in your mouth. Scrape the surface of your mouth with a tongue cleaner!!!! Indian (from India) people do this as a regular step in oral hygiene. I know very few people that do this. I started doing this and have been tonsil stone free for two years. My tongue is pink, breath is fresh, and my tonsils have shrunk.

lolwut? u don't know wit q-tips r? FAIL i do and I'm only 10 soon 11 they're the white stick with cotton on the ends to clean your ears
