After being plagued by this disgusting condition for all of my teenage years and on into my early 20's, I took the leap and approached my doctor. He referred me to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. When I spoke with the ENT Doc, he knew EXCTLY what I was talking about, which was such a relief! He decided that it was in my best interest to get a tonsillectomy.
At age 22 this has NOT been a pleasant experience. The days following the surgery have been MISERABLE! However, looking at the craters where my tonsils used to reside it's easy to see that my tonsil stones are a thing of the past. The crypts and pits that once filled with foul material are completely gone. There's no place for the stones to form. I could not be happier!
Now mind you, I had tried EVERYTHING to get rid of these stones over the YEARS. From the basics of gargling with salt water and special mouth washes, I moved on to water picks and q-tip detailing. Finally I tried Dr. Kaatz's TheraBreath program. I found a good deal on Ebay for the whole package. Sadly, despite others positive results, it didn't do a thing for me. I do have to say that I'll continue to use the toothpaste in conjunction with my regular toothpaste. It left a very clean and refreshed feeling. Almost like peroxide.
If you're able to take the leap, a full tonsillectomy is the BEST cute for this. I'm sure there are side effects of the surgery that should be considered. In my opinion, the risks were worth it just to get relief from the stone.

guest commented on 17 Apr 2008, 16:53:58 I've recently discovered that I have tonsil stones. I discovered them simply through feeling them in the back of my throat. I have not experienced the bad breath effects -- yet. But being annoyed by the stones already I've been looking for a cure. Do I try purchasing products? How long will I have to use them? Do I just go for the surgery?
guest commented on 13 May 2008, 23:02:23 i had the surgery as well but the stones came back on the right side of my throat, now i am having a hard time getting them out because they are down further in my throat, what a pain, if anyone can help me with them, i would be most grateful

So, maybe youŽll not get rid of them with tonsillectomy, but youŽll need also to vaporize this ones to (with laser).

guest commented on 10 Mar 2010, 15:10:33 I spoke with an ENT today beacuse I recently had 13 stones in just one side! The other side I guess is so irritated (where I can't see) It just bled.. So He said I needed a tonsilectomy..
guest commented on 15 Mar 2010, 12:19:53 i would totally recommend a tonsillectomy as well. I'm on day 6 of recovery so I can't speak to how great my throat is post-op but here's why I'd recommend it: After surgery the Doctor went to see my husband and tell him that the procedure went well. He also said that my tonsils were in way worse shape than he had thought and were FILLED with tonsil stones which were probably the cause of many low grade infections.
I've been thinking about this and it makes sense. If ever once and awhile you're able to see a tonsil stone in your throat then it makes sense that it's just the tip of the iceberg so to speak and who knows what nasty crap is lurking deep down. Eww so gross! Plus I didn't want to be spending 10 minutes a day trying to dissect my throat for the rest of my life. Good luck!! It really does hurt but it manageable.

I have suffered from these nasty critters [tonsil stones] for years. I just accepted that I would always have them. However, since using the tonsil stone remedy I learned about on tonsilstones.net, I have not experienced even one tonsil stone. - Mike, Missouri USA
