Like many of you, I've had tonsil stones for several years and tried just about everything under the sun to make them go away--special mouthwashes, Water-Piks, you name it. The only thing I've found so far that truly makes a difference is steroid nasal spray (the stuff that's manufactured under names like Flonase and Rhinocort). This stuff is designed for people with chronic sinus problems, and it works by lessening mucus discharge in your nose and throat--and thus eliminating the excess postnasal drainage that kicks off tonsillolith formation.
I was considering surgery to have my tonsils removed/ ablated, but after a couple of weeks on Flonase, I see no need. I haven't gotten a single tonsil stone since I started, whereas before I used to get them almost every day. Hope this advice helps some of you--it's probably not something you will hear from your ENT, as most of them don't seem to connect the dots between postnasal drip and tonsil stones. If you go in and ask them for a prescription for one of these sprays, though, they will give it to you no problem, provided you have a history of allergies and/or sinus conditions. (Bonus: The spray helps clear those up, too.) Good luck!

Sean, Japan commented on 19 May 2010, 17:23:08 As a sufferer of allergies I have used Rhinocort in the past and still have some sitting aside! I just recently started getting Tonsil Stones. After reading this I looked into getting some Rhinocort in Japan and I found that it is used here to rid of bacteria in the mouth! Seems this could work! I'm going to give it a try starting tonight and get back to everyone!

I have suffered from these nasty critters [tonsil stones] for years. I just accepted that I would always have them. However, since using the tonsil stone remedy I learned about on tonsilstones.net, I have not experienced even one tonsil stone. - Mike, Missouri USA
